Dwight C. “Bud” McManus, 98, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024 in Weatherford.
Visitation: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024 at White’s Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.
Graveside Service: 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Clark Cemetery, Weatherford.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Bud’s memory to the Homebound Ministry at Northside Baptist Church, Weatherford, Texas.
Bud was born on April 12, 1926 in Wills Point, son of Charles Wesley and Claudia (Waters) McManus. He met the love of his life, Wanda Faye Sluder, and they were married on April 10, 1948 in Terrell. They spent almost 75 happy years together until Wanda passed away on January 22, 2023. Bud and Wanda were blessed with four children.
On August 23, 1944, Bud joined the United States Army, serving in both World War II and Korea, and retired after 20 years of service on October 31, 1964. He then went to work for the Army Corps of Engineers and remained with them until his retirement. Bud was a loving husband and father. He was a faithful believer and servant of the Lord and a longtime member of Northside Baptist Church. Bud loved his horses very much, but his first love was his family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of almost 75 years, Wanda Faye McManus.
Bud is survived by his four children, Brenda Fuller and husband, Lee, Sharon Hamilton and husband, Pat, Steve McManus and wife, Brandy, and Lisa Tycoliz and husband, Dan; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and numerous extended family members, church family, and dear friends.
