James Lewis McDonald was born in 1870 in Denton County,
Texas, the son of Lewis P. McDonald and Mary C. Wheelock. His father died in
Denton County before Jim was born. His mother moved back to Parker County to
the old McDonald farm in the Dicey area.
James L. (Jim) McDonald married Mary Jane Doyle, the daughter of Henry and Esther Runion) Doyle of Parker County.
Jim and Mary had five children all born and raised in Parker County.
Ollie, the oldest, was born in 1899. She was employed at the Pythian Home in Weatherford for several years. After her retirement she continued to live there until her health became so bad that she had to be hospitalized. She died in 1977 and is buried in Clark Cemetery.
Howard Meng was the oldest son, born in 1900, and he married Floy Ella Crawford. They live in Houston and have three children; Howard Meng Jr, James Lee, and Martha Jane (Tate).
Grace Evelyn McDonald was born in 1903 and married Orville Hardaway. They lived and raised their children, Herman and Zonell (Simpson), in Sun Ray, Texas. Grace came back to Weatherford to live after Orville’s death. She died in Weatherford in 1967 and is buried in Sun Ray, Texas.
James Chandler (Little Jim) was born in 1905 and married Mable C. Brasher. They live in Fort Worth and have two children; Robert Doyle and Pat Brasher.
The youngest child, Mary Vivian, was born in 1907 and she married J. D. Schindler. They raised two children in Weatherford; Mary Vivian (Hudson) and J. D. Schindler Jr.
James Lewis McDonald died in 1941 and Mary Jane Doyle died in 1948. They are both buried in Clark Cemetery.
